"Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth."

In a regard, all individuals are selfish, working only for personal gain. What we call sacrifice and love is merely the fufillment of the selfish desire to see others happy. In other words, what we regard as the opposite of selfishness is merely the selfish desire to make oneself happy by seeing others around them happy.

So perhaps then, all individuals are not unlike the economic definition. Everyone is working for their own personal benefit.

Person A is willing to sacrifice time and money and whatever for Person B whom he loves. But WHY is he willing to do so? Because when he sees Person B happy, he feels happy as well. So his apparently selfless act is motivated by his selfish desire to feel happy.

Perhaps people are merely differentiated by what makes them happy. Some people feel happy when they see others in pain. Some feel happy when others around them are happy. Hence, the underlying reason for their actions is the same - to maximise one's own happiness. Just that different things make them happy, and as a result they perform different things in their own interest.

Anyway yesterday was a class outing of sorts. Quite fun. Took the circle line to Serangoon, which was a cool experience - the front of the train is unobstructed, allowing for a view of the train going down the tunnel.

Thanks Ervin for letting us go to your house. Thanks Lionel, Hui Ming, Ning Yu and Edwin for teaching me mahjong =X now my family want me to gamble with them in mahjong so i can say goodbye to the rest of my allowance for the week T.T
