"Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain."
A smooth but quick withdrawal out of the hole. A quick jerk-out-of. Make sure to hit the target.
I'm talking about bowling, by the way. It's the throwing style currently with which I can get the most revolutions on the ball.
1. Small first step, release lock on second step. 2. Normal Swing / 5 steps, stay focused on pushing the ball down the lane. 3. Bring ball forward with force, smoothly withdraw hand from beneath the ball. 4. Jerk the hand out in a quick motion, letting the momentum carry the hand to a followthrough.
And I hope I don't bowl another 60 point game for the roll-offs wtf. Stupid hand sends spasms of pain down the entire forearm for certain shots due to over-bowling recently. Its bloody irritating lah. Even writing with a pen is affected...
And now in a demonstration of randomness I shall talk about drugs and psychology.
Did you know that several studies have shown that the effects of consciousness-altering drugs such as caffeine, morphine, nicotine and heroine are based in part on how the mind perceives them. Because all experiences are subjective, in a way such that the world as we see it is actually a heavy altered version in which our brain filters information from our already limited senses, to an extent where there is very little constant in this world, the effect of drugs on the brain depends to a certain extent on how the brain expects the drugs to work on it.
In past experiments, when a control group was injected with a placebo but told it was morphine, they responded as if they were actually drugged. There are also other cases in history, such as when caffeine was a banned drug, during which whenever people took a sip of the heavily-coveted coffee they would experience a 'high' not unlike that of drug abusers nowadays. And look around now, with coffee and tea being available everywhere, and a nonchalant attitude towards them - even I, when drinking several cups of coffee, can fall asleep immediately. Perhaps the effect of drugs, in part, is due to the consumer's attitude towards it to begin with - low expectations would in part neutralise the effect of the drug itself, since all humans are inherently biased in their intepretation of the world, such that no two consciousness experiences the world the same way.
And in a separate study, it has been suggested that the drugs abusers of today are labelled as criminals only because we have regarded taking drugs as a crime. It is a circular logic, in which it is a self-fufilling prophecy - The criminal aspects of drugs, outside of the damage inflicted on one's own body, comprises mainly of the harm which is done to those around the drug abuser and the criminal acts abusers have a tendancy to resort to in order to keep up their addiction. However, in a world where consuming such drugs was not a crime, say just another activity like smoking, then firstly the prices would not be so exorbitant, since one's head would no longer be on the line for bringing it into the country, and drug abusers would no longer have a need to resort to crime to maintain their addiction. Furthermore, since it is a normal activity, there is no cause for concern amongst the addict's family and friends - it is akin to just another money-consuming hobby. After all, several medical studies have suggested that addiction to nicotine is just as hard, if not harder, to kick off than addiction to heroine.
Imagine that in an alternate time and universe consuming drugs is normal and no longer a crime. People consume such drugs for the "kick" it gives them; the illusion that their consciousness is brought to another level, the accelerated feelings, the sense of pleasure. To take a shot of crack is like a cup of coffee. Drugs are available on the streets just like coffee is available in vending machines, and because they are so readily available people expect little effect out of them, and this in part reduces the effect of such drugs on the brain as explained earlier.
What would such a world be like? Would it solve the problem of drug abusers? Would legalising drug abuse ironically reduce the amount of abusers? I wonder.
ARGH P.E. TOMORROW. I DONT WANT TO DANCE NOOOOOOO.
