Ok from now I shall fill my title with lame quotes.
Anyway dam sian, my body always choose this type of time to kok up one. Cny period coming, start to cough, running nose, lethargic... etc. Totally no strength to move, go outside look like zombie, kena niao by relatives. Also dunno why I sick, ytd's NH gathering also got a few ppl meng cough.
For the first time I shall blog about my opinion towards something. Imo in games like Defence of the Ancients, commonly abbreviated as "DOTA", comparing stuff like individual skill is fairly stupid. Firstly, it only leads to conflicts in real life over a virtual game, with arguments over who is "more pro". Inevitably people will be of opinion that several are inferior, and conflicting views often lead to heated arguments.
Seriously, so what if one is more pro in said game? It doesnt mean he is better in real life or anything. Even worse is when people start to becocme of the opinion that he who is better in said game has spent countless hours of his life playing it. There are always people who learn fast and people who learn slow. Eventually both will more or less attain the same standard, the difference being a matter of time. Attitude is a factor too. Check http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/comic.php?d=20060823 out if you want to get a rough idea of what I mean by attitude. But the problem is that those fast learners will sometimes be labelled by comparatively slower learners as "no lifers", or "nellies".
The worst thing in this example is that DOTA is not a game of personal skill. In a game where teamwork is the deciding factor, personal skill has a low standing in the list of factors that make a team win. One can last hit, deny, and harass like some MYM pro, but if he prioritizes farming over helping out a teammate one screen away, he's no different from a auto-attacking pub.
Let me put in a clearer example: There are two players. One is good at last hitting, carrying, and farming in general. He has relatively higher personal skill, but is somewhat an asshole online. Conflicts easily arise between him and the team because he wants to farm a lane solo even when he's a support hero. The other player is a supporter. He lets his lanemate farm, squanders most of his gold on wards, and ends up with a low level and low score. Ultimately, the general opinion would be that the second player is "noober" than the former. However, if you would to ask me, I would rather the second player on my team. True, he may have slightly less personal skill, but he would contribute more to the team than the first player. While both type of players are necessary in a proper team, a team of 5 of the first type of player versus a team of 5 of the second type of player would result in the latter winning, if only for the reason that they wouldn't fight with each other.
Basically personal skill ranking is stupid. "I MORE PRO THAN U LUL" simply shows that you're an arrogant bastard, and "I MORE NOOB THAN U LUL" simply makes people dislike being on your team. Either way people should just ignore this and let their gameplay prove their competency. Bringing up this topic at all will eventually result in somebody pissed.
